We also want to help you fulfil your dream of teaching piano full-time with a stable income, and a flexible schedule which you decide.
However, we are not looking for any piano teacher who has a certificate to join us. We are looking beyond that.
You should have:
- at least a Grade 8 in Piano from ABRSM or Trinity College London, or equivalent.
- at least a Grade 5 in Music Theory
- *the patience to teach and guide students
- *the ability to inspire students to love piano
*We consider this important because we have heard enough of de-motivational stories of students quitting piano because their teachers are too strict, or they lose interest in piano because of the teacher’s teaching style.

FAQ
How much commission do I need to pay for every successful matching?
You will only need to pay us 50% of the first month’s fee for every successful matching of students. Thereafter, all the fees will go to you directly.
How much can I earn while taking in private students?
The amount you can earn depends on the number of private students you teach. Typically, private piano teachers earn more than music school teachers.
Can I sign up as a private piano teacher, even when I'm teaching in a school?
Yes sure. We do have piano school teachers who applied as piano teachers with us too. We help them earn more by matching private piano students to them.
I plan to go full-time piano teaching soon. I'll need students fast. Can you help me?
Definitely. We have helped many teachers go from part-time to full-time private teaching within a few months upon joining us. Share with us your plans and we are happy to assist you further.
What is the minimum/maximum age to sign up as a teacher?
We prefer you to be at least 18 years-old to take on the role of a private piano teacher. However, there is no maximum age.
Can I teach part-time only?
Yes sure. Just let us know your part-time teaching schedule and we’ll do our best to fill your available timings with students!
I'm new to teaching private piano students. Can I still join The Happy Pianist?
Sure. We welcome you to join us and we will guide you along the way to build up your career as a private piano teacher.
What if I cannot take in any more students?
If your schedule is packed until you can’t take in any students, just let us know and we’ll stop matching students for you. And if you are available to take in students again, just let us know again too!
Can I recommend my friend to sign up as teacher too?
Yes definitely! If you have any qualified and experienced teacher friends who are looking for private students, get them to sign up with us too ! For every friend you referred who sign up as a piano teacher, you will be rewarded with 10% of their commission for every successful student matching, for life!
