About

Hi, I’m piano teacher Ms Shan Chee (or you can also call me teacher Shan).

I started learning the piano at the age of 7, and at age 18, I received a scholarship to study music at Chongqing Normal University. I completed my studies and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Musicology.

I returned to Singapore to start my piano teaching career, started with Cristofori Music School in 2014, and then teach at Yamaha Music School in 2018. I taught many kids classes, both group and individual classes, and many of them are 4 years old and above. I’m also familiar with the learning syllabus taught by Yamaha and Cristofori through my working experience there.

Currently, I’m teaching private students, preparing them from Grade 1 to 8, for both practical and theory lessons.

As a private piano teacher running my own music studio, I have the flexibility and freedom to customise lessons based on the needs and interest of every student.

When it comes to teaching, I prefer a cheerful, light-hearted, and fun environment that helps the students learn best. Hence, I create different little games such as bunny jumping games to learn the A key on the piano.

I create these games based on the age group of the students as well. We can also play duets together, play simple accompaniment chords, sing along, ear training, and many more.

As a music lover myself, I enjoy the teaching process very much. I keep finding ways to improve my teaching for my students. Watching the kids make progress throughout the years gives me huge motivation in what I do every day.

Beside kids, I also conduct lessons for adult students too. I have specially created a curriculum for adult beginners who are learning music for the first time, to pick up sight reading and music composition quickly and able to play their favourite songs in no time.
