About

Hi I’m Robyn, and I’ve been teaching piano since 2006.

I started learning piano at the age of 4, where my mom introduced me to the piano, as we had a piano at home. I also play the violin when I got older.

I started off with Yamaha classes, but then moved on to private piano lessons where I completed my Grade 8 and ABRSM Diploma in Piano.

Thereafter, I went off to Northwestern State University in Louisiana USA for my Bachelor and Masters in Music.

Music is always part of me. I was in choir during my secondary school, junior college and university days. When I was doing my tertiary studies in US, I was also the piano instructor in the university, giving undergraduate group piano lessons for music and non-music majors, before and after I graduated.

I was also the choir accompanist for Red River Chorale and First Presbyterian Church in Louisana, providing piano accompaniment for their choir during rehearsals and weekly mass.

After teaching kids and adult students for quite some time, I learned that one of the challenges for piano students is practice.

The discipline to practice, the correct way to practice, and finding time to practice no matter how busy we are.

I understand this as well, as this is one of my challenges when I was learning music too.

That’s why i customise my lessons to allow my students to learn and practice effectively, so they can progress well and achieve milestones in their learning journey.

I like to make my lessons fun and engaging, and let parents and students know that I’m together with them in this music journey.

I love to see ‘light bulb’ moments when my students ‘gets it’, when a student able to play a piece they claim was impossible, and able to implement what i teach them.

This is what motivates me as a teacher. Hope to see you in my class 🙂
